Vice-Dean, Research and Industrial Engagement, School of Education job with LA TROBE UNIVERSITY

About the role:
The Associate Dean, Research and Industry Engagement is responsible for providing high quality leadership in research (including research training) and industry engagement within the School, as well as the development, implementation and review of research and industry engagement initiatives that are aligned with the strategic priorities of the school and university.
Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
- Design, implement and monitor a school’s research strategy aligned to support the university’s strategy and the achievement of the school’s research goals.
- Chair relevant school committees and participate or represent the school on other relevant internal and external committees
- Maintain awareness of KPIs and school goals in research
- Ensure staff research plans are aligned with these KPIs and objectives
- Ensure that all staff at levels up to and including C level who have a research workload have a research plan and a research mentor.
- Ensure that School staff participate in research idea/grant application sessions
- Undertake research orientation with new school staff, including orientation on research strategy, facilities, services and support
- Coordinate School engagement with research assessment exercises
Skills and knowledge required to be successful in this role:
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching of the highest quality in a discipline or related professional fields, including demonstrating leadership in teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Doctorate or equivalent accreditation recognized by the university/profession
- Demonstrated success as an established researcher and research leader in a research area relevant to research at the School and ability to develop and implement strategies to improve research, industry engagement and the culture and performance of research training at the School.
- Demonstrated sophisticated understanding of the local, national and global environment and emerging trends in research, research funding, and research translation and commercialization.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to ensure the School achieves its strategic objectives and KPIs for research and industry engagement and contributes effectively to the University’s research strategy
- Evidence of an international reputation in the nominee’s professional field and significant national and international influence on their profession
- Demonstrated ability to attract specialist/postdoctoral research students and supervise until successful completion.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong working relationships with University academic and professional staff.
