New York mural artist Jason Naylor brings art to Hampton NH Backyard
HAMPTON – New York mural artist Jason Naylor recently left his mark at Backyard, the outdoor patio at Shane’s Tex Mex BBQ.
Owner Shane Pine said he brought in the artist last week to create one of the 20 murals that surround the outdoor patio at 61 High St.
“We are so lucky to now have one of his murals in our backyard,” The Backyard told Facebook.
Naylor is an award-winning street artist who is known for creating large, colorful murals with inspiring and inspiring messages of love and positivity.
His work has received worldwide recognition, including the Golden Novum Design Award and two CLIO bronze medals. He has been featured on HGTV and the Discovery Channel and was named by Bumble in 2018 as one of the 100 Most Inspirational New Yorkers.
The Backyard is the new name of the Instabar.
Shane’s daughter Alyssa Pine said they recently renamed the place dubbed “the happiest place in Hampton” as part of a major overhaul of last year’s format into an art and food gallery. She said the goal was to make it as exhilarating an experience as a culinary delight.
She has worked with over 11 local artists from the greater Seacoast area, including herself, producing the remaining murals that fill The Backyard with color and atmosphere.
Featured artists include Anna Dugan, Alex Edgerly, Carlie Shively, Yenny Hernandez, Heather Madison, Katie Emmett, Kori Thomas and Sadie Tupper.
“We call her the art curator,” Shane Pine said. “It’s her baby. I’m very proud.”
Alyssa Pine said she gave artists free rein to use their talents, even encouraging them to “step out of their comfort zone.” The results, she said, are over 20 murals in The Backyard that are different from last year’s Instabar art, which primarily attracted a young audience.
“This year we really wanted to focus on a really cool art gallery with artwork for everyone,” she said. “We have different styles of art and it’s really fun. I instantly fell in love with it. It’s better than I ever imagined.
