Massage therapist accused of sexually assaulting a client

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A massage therapist has been charged with sexually assaulting a client at a massage parlor in Holland Township.
Matthew Edward Owens, 47, of Park Township, is charged with Third Degree Criminal and Sexual Conduct, a 15-year felony.
He was arraigned Thursday, February 18 in Holland District Court. He posted a $ 25,000 bond.
The incident is said to have occurred on Monday afternoon.
A 46-year-old woman from Holland Township told police she “was sexually assaulted by the therapist,” Ottawa County Sheriff’s Captain Mark Bennett said in a statement.
Police questioned Owens on Wednesday night before his arrest.
Owens, a registered massage therapist, was working at Ideal Bodyworks Massage Therapy on East 16th Street when the incident allegedly occurred, police said.
Christina Raffenaud, owner of Ideal Bodyworks, said in a statement that “we are working 100% with law enforcement on this issue. We as a facility are shocked by this and by no means the others. Independent massage therapists here present (have) no knowledge of this. We are saddened by it and it is no longer associated with our establishment. “
Owens has had many positive reviews online for his work.
He started at Ideal Bodyworks in August 2018.
