Jonathan Adler opens in Dallas’ West Village with largest store to date

Jonathan Adler opens what he calls a “Texas-sized” store in Dallas.

Adler’s new store in the West Village at 3700 McKinney is its largest store to date at 6,600 square feet. Plans call for the store to open by November 29 following some construction delays, including the arrival of the outdoor sign. Adler closed his store in the Knox District and doubled his space with the new location. (The West Village store is in the former J. Crew space.)

While in town, Adler is honored by Fashion Group International of Dallas with a Design Career Achievement Award. The annual Iconic Glamor black tie gala raises money for the Dallas FGI Scholarship Fund. The event is Friday at the Thompson Hotel in downtown Dallas.

Adler started out making pottery and quit his day job to pursue a career in design in 1993 when Barneys New York purchased his collection. Five years later, he opened his first store. Now he designs home decorations, furniture, rugs, light fixtures, table tops, bedding, gifts, and candles.

The new store has a dedicated lighting room furnished with black marble floors. Another area called “the cube” features some of Adler’s favorite designs. The room vignettes feature different looks that he describes as ranging from Parisian glamor to rustic Hollywood Hills.

The store will also cater to interior designers and has a ‘design your own’ program that will allow any customer to create unique custom rugs, pillows, throws and upholstery. Customers can also bring their own fabrics.

“Everything is bigger in Texas,” Adler said in a press release. “Our new store looks radical – and radically different from anything we’ve done before. Whether you’re looking for a little treasure or an entire room, we’ve got it. Hope customers like it as much as I do.
