NOTES TO EDITORS:
JOURNEY – meaning the ‘profile of the route of the race or stage‘ – was founded in the summer of 2016 by Oxford University engineering graduate Dov Tate after discovering there was something missing in the market; an affordable, aero-tested wheelset. With a background in engineering and a passion for the sport of cycling, Dov decided to jump in with the idea of creating just that.
Along with long and demanding days in a hectic role around the city, Dov spent early 2016 contacting various vendors to find out what materials they had to offer, and in March of that year he traveled to the States -United. to begin more extensive testing in a specialized wind tunnel in North Carolina. As part of this process, Dov began researching where others had gone wrong, and actually the routes he could take to differentiate Parcours from its competitors. After receiving the results, Dov was able to fully analyze the recorded data and examine trends in rim manufacturing, shape and design – from which some early wheel designs were drawn.
In early June 2016, Dov traveled to mainland China, to specifically research the materials and processes behind the development of the wheels. He explored different layers of carbon, resins and components, to ensure that he was not only looking to create an aero wheel that was fast and competitive, but also capable of withstanding shocks, with a quality of construction that made them durable and robust. .
A few months later, in the summer of 2016, Parcours was officially launched with three wheels as the headliner of the new range – the Climber, Passist and stopwatch.
Since then, the Parcours line has grown further to include full lines for road, time trial and even gravel bikes. the Strade The wheelset is an incredibly fast all-mountain wheelset with proven aerodynamics and stability, and the High can handle the roughest gravel trails to help you get the most out of your off-road adventures.
Parcours has enjoyed great success over the years and is continually looking to refine and expand its product line with new generation wheels being released as new technologies emerge and trends change. More recently, Dov and the Parcours team worked with Dr Steve Faulkner of Nottingham Trent University to study in detail the effect of wind angle on a bicycle frame and wheels, and will use this in future product design and axle manufacturing.
Parcours wheels are the ideal choice for athletes interested in tangible gains in their sport – those who want to see transparency and proven data, recognizing the benefits that good aerodynamics can have on their performance.
