Arhtiyas will not procure wheat if the DBT payment method is not withdrawn
Arhtiyas (commissionaires) on Monday announced a full boycott of wheat purchases in Punjab for the implementation of the direct benefit transfer (DBT) payment method to farmers. The Federation of Punjab Arhtiyas Associations in its “Mandi Bachao Mahasammelan” in Bagha Purana announced that the arhtiyas would not purchase rabi products this season if the new payment method is not withdrawn. The arhtiyas also demanded the release of the pending ₹131 crore from the state government.
Wheat purchases in the state are expected to begin April 10.
Federation President Vijay Kalra said: “We have decided to boycott the wheat supply. The Center has time until April 9 to withdraw the DBT payment method. ”
He said, “The central government should ask farmers what they want. Most farmers fear that banks will deduct their money if they receive payment through DBT because they have taken out loans. They want the old method of payment to continue. ”
“ Confront the deputies, the deputies so as not to support the agitation ”
Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) main leader Balbir Singh Rajewal called for confronting all MPs and MPs because they did not support the farmers’ movement wholeheartedly.
“We have received reports that political parties have given instructions to their cadres and MPs to weaken the movement in Punjab. The support of political parties for farmers is a facade, ”said Rajewal.
Ruldu Singh Mansa, another senior SKM leader, said: “Political parties are making noise that they are with farmers. But they are just trying to take advantage of the agitation of the farmers. There are about 10 roads that lead to Delhi. If they are with farmers, why don’t they block these roads. ”
SKM chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni said, “Farmers will march to Parliament in May because those who enacted the laws are sitting there.”
