The weather is getting colder and, as everyone knows, that means it’s time to hibernate. With endless days at home, you might want to give your accommodation a little boost. We went to the High Point Furniture Market about a month ago, and based on the merchandise on display, we have some good news: the cheerful, upbeat design is back. We spotted colors, patterns and textures everywhere, but instead of rainbow colors we saw spicy hues like persimmon, mustard, and eggplant (because winter is, after all, a question of comfort food). Upholstered furniture and woven textured seating will make the items in your home not only pleasant, but also beautiful, and of course the new skirt craze in the upholstery world shows that it’s the little ruffle details that matter.

This season is not the time to spend the trimmings. Designers are inspired by all kinds of embellishments, including pom poms. From left to right : Mara pendant light by Lisa McDennon for Hinkley, Lexie side table by Milling Road, Vitale wall light by Currey and Co.

Turquoise

A piece of jewelry is the perfect place to find inspiration, and this blue-green color, whether in an accent sofa or a trendy sofa, will add some sparkle to your space. Clockwise from the top: Channel Back sofa by Global Views, Bali coffee table by Julian Chichester and Alcoy baskets by Made Goods.

Woven

For a little more texture in your home, woven wood patterns or a chunky “sock weave” will do the trick. From above: Wailea swivel chair by Bernhardt and lounge chair by Andrew Winch for Summit.
